What is AI Avatar Generator?

AI Avatar Generator repaints your photo in a style of your choosing — anime, watercolor, oil painting, cyberpunk, comic, pencil sketch, 3D render or fantasy art. Upload a photo, pick a style, and about half a minute later you have a stylised avatar for your profile, ready to download or send to the upscaler for a larger version. Stable Diffusion does the repainting on our own server, working from your actual photo rather than pasting a filter over it.

The honest part: likeness is approximate

This tool stylises your photo; it does not clone your face. The composition, pose, hair, colours and overall character carry across, and the style transforms the rest — which is what an avatar is. Tools that promise an exact you-but-anime run dedicated identity models, and we chose not to ship one: the usable ones carry non-commercial licences and the same machinery is what powers deepfakes. A stylised avatar with honest likeness felt like the right trade, and because every run uses a fresh seed, regenerating gives you a new take each time — most people find one they love within a few runs.

Getting a good avatar

The square centre of your photo becomes the avatar, so a head-and-shoulders shot with the face near the middle works best. Even, frontal light beats harsh shadows. Painterly styles — watercolor, oil, fantasy — are the most forgiving of imperfect photos; anime and comic reward clean, well-lit ones. If the result feels too far from you, try the sketch or watercolor styles, which repaint more gently.

Where your photo goes

Your browser downscales the photo to 640 pixels before anything leaves your device — the server never sees the original file. The upload exists on the server only while your job runs; the finished avatar is held in memory for up to fifteen minutes so your page can fetch it, and then both are discarded. Nothing is written to disk, and your photos are not collected, reviewed or used to train anything.

How to Use AI Avatar Generator

  1. 1

    Upload a photo

Drag it in, paste with Ctrl+V or choose a file. A centred, head-and-shoulders shot in even light works best.

  2. 2

    Pick a style

Eight styles from anime to oil painting. Painterly ones are the most forgiving; anime and comic reward clean photos.

  3. 3

    Press Create Avatar

Your browser sends a 640px copy; the server repaints it in about 30 seconds. Queue position and time estimate are real.

  4. 4

    Regenerate until it clicks

Every run is a fresh variation of your photo in that style. Trying a few takes is the intended workflow, not a workaround.

  5. 5

    Download, upscale or cut out

Save the 512px PNG, send it to the upscaler for 1024–2048px, or to the background remover for a transparent sticker-style avatar.

Frequently Asked Questions

It will look like a stylised version of your photo — the pose, hair, colours and overall character carry across, but the likeness is approximate by design. Exact-face tools run dedicated identity models whose licences forbid commercial use and whose machinery powers deepfakes; we deliberately built this without one. Regenerate a few times — each run is a fresh variation, and one usually lands.
A head-and-shoulders shot with your face near the centre, in even light. The square centre of the image becomes the avatar, so anything important at the edges gets cropped. Painterly styles like watercolor and oil are forgiving of casual photos; anime and comic look best from clean, well-lit ones.
Your browser downscales it to 640px first, so the original file never leaves your device. The downscaled copy exists on the server only while the job runs, the result is held in memory for up to fifteen minutes so your page can fetch it, and then both are discarded. Nothing touches a disk.
The repainting is done by Stable Diffusion on our own 4-core server, one job at a time. When others are ahead of you the page shows your real queue position and a time estimate measured from actual recent generations — not an animation.
Yes — one click sends the result to the AI Image Upscaler, which runs on your own device and takes it to 1024px or 2048px. That two-step path produces a sharper large avatar than generating big directly would, and costs the server nothing.
Because we could not do it honestly on this hardware. Convincing corporate-headshot generators need identity-preserving models that both exceed this server's memory and carry non-commercial licences. Rather than ship a bad imitation, the styles here are ones a single-pass model genuinely does well.
Yes — it runs on hardware we already own, so there is nothing to meter. The per-visitor rate limit exists only because the server is genuinely shared with everyone else on this page.
