What Information We Collect
We collect the absolute minimum necessary to make our tools work. When you visit S2FreeTools, our server automatically logs basic technical data — your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited. This is standard for virtually every website on the internet and helps us understand traffic patterns and fix technical issues. When you subscribe to our newsletter (entirely optional), we store your email address. That's it. We never ask for your name, phone number, physical address, or payment details — because we don't need them.
How We Use Your Data
Server logs help us detect abuse, debug errors, and see which tools are most popular (so we know what to improve next). Newsletter emails, if you subscribe, are used only to send you occasional updates about new tools and features. That's the full list of what we do with data we hold ourselves. We never sell it, rent it, trade it, or enrich it with data bought from anyone else, and we do not make automated decisions about you. File Processing & Storage
This is the question we get asked the most — and the answer is simple: we don't keep your files. Tools that can process files entirely in your browser (like image resizers, code formatters, QR code generators) do exactly that — the file never leaves your device. For tools that require server-side processing (like PDF conversions), files are uploaded to a temporary, encrypted session folder. The moment processing completes and you download the result, the original file and its output are purged from our servers. No backups. No archives. No employee can "look at your files." Even if we wanted to, there'd be nothing to look at.
Cookies & Tracking
Our own cookies are minimal. Session cookies keep you logged in (if you create an account) and expire when you close your browser. Preference cookies remember things like your chosen theme or language — these persist for a few months so you don't have to reset them every visit. We use Google Analytics to see which tools people actually use, which sets its own cookies and records an anonymised IP address; it is loaded only after the page has finished rendering. Google AdSense, which pays for the site, also sets advertising cookies — covered in full in the advertising section below, including how to switch personalisation off. Beyond those we set no retargeting pixels and embed no social media trackers.
Third-Party Services
We keep third-party dependencies to a bare minimum. Our website hosting provider has access to server logs (as all hosts do) and is bound by their own privacy and security commitments. We use a newsletter service to manage email subscriptions — that service stores only the email addresses you voluntarily provide. Google is the one other third party that receives data, in two roles: Google Analytics, which tells us which tools get used, and Google AdSense, which serves the ads that pay for the site. Both receive only the standard browsing signals described in the advertising section below — never your email address, your files, or anything you type into a tool. Beyond these we embed no external scripts and no social media widgets.
Advertising & Google AdSense
S2FreeTools is free for everyone, and advertising is what pays for the servers. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings at www.google.com/settings/ads, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices. Opting out does not remove ads — you will simply see less relevant ones. We do not give Google your email address, your files, or anything you type into a tool; ad partners see only the standard browsing signals every ad-supported site passes on, such as IP address, browser and the page you are on.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we hold very little, this is usually quick. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime with a single click (every email includes an unsubscribe link). You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not work as smoothly. To request data access or deletion, email us at [email protected]. We'll respond within 72 hours — not the legally required 30 days. We believe in moving fast on privacy requests.
GDPR, the UK and Switzerland
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, no analytics or advertising cookies are set until you consent. Cookie storage starts denied for those regions and only switches on if you agree through the consent banner, which is provided by a Google-certified consent management platform. You can decline entirely and every tool on this site still works exactly the same — nothing is gated behind consent. To change your mind later, clear this site's cookies in your browser and the banner will appear again on your next visit, or turn ad personalisation off directly at www.google.com/settings/ads. Our legal basis is your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and legitimate interest for the basic server logs that keep the site running and secure. Do you sell my data to advertisers?
No. We have never sold user data and we never will — selling data and showing ads are two different things. We show ads through Google AdSense, which pays for the servers, but that is Google serving an ad into a slot on the page. We hand over no email addresses, no files and nothing you type into a tool.
How do I stop seeing personalised ads?
Go to Google Ads Settings at www.google.com/settings/ads and turn ad personalisation off, or use www.aboutads.info/choices to opt out of multiple vendors at once. You will still see ads — they just stop being based on your browsing history. Your ability to use every tool on this site is completely unaffected either way.
What happens to my files after I close the tool?
They're gone. Browser-processed files never left your device. Server-processed files are automatically deleted from our temporary storage within minutes of processing completion. We retain nothing.
Can I use your tools without accepting cookies?
Yes. Every tool works with cookies fully blocked in your browser. Essential session cookies are only needed if you log into an account. Blocking cookies stops advertising cookies too — it does not lock you out of anything.
How do you handle data breach incidents?
Since we store minimal user data, the impact of any theoretical breach would be extremely limited. That said, we have monitoring in place and will notify affected users within 72 hours of discovering any breach, as required by applicable regulations.
