What is Edit PDF?

Edit PDF lets you modify a document directly in your browser — add or edit text, insert images and shapes, draw and annotate, add hyperlinks, sticky notes, headers, footers, page numbers and watermarks, and manage pages (add, delete, duplicate, rotate, reorder, extract, split and merge).

All editing happens locally in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib — your document is never uploaded to a server, so your files stay completely private.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can add new text anywhere, and edit text the editor can isolate. Be aware that a PDF is a layout format, not a document format — the original text is fixed in place with its own embedded fonts, so editing it is closer to patching than to word processing. For heavy rewrites you will get a better result editing the source file and re-exporting.
Because there is no text in it. A scan is a photograph of a page, so every word is just pixels. You can still draw, annotate and add new text on top of it, but changing the scanned words themselves needs OCR to convert the image into real text first.
No. The whole editor runs in your browser on top of PDF.js and pdf-lib. Your document is opened, edited and saved entirely on your own device, which makes it safe for contracts, medical records, invoices and anything else confidential.
Add, delete, duplicate, rotate and reorder pages, plus extract a range into a new file, split one document into several, and merge several into one. That covers most of what people otherwise buy a desktop PDF suite for.
Yes for everything you do not touch — existing pages keep their embedded fonts and exact layout. Text you add uses standard PDF fonts that render identically everywhere, so it will not go missing on someone else's machine.
