What is Keyword Density Checker?

Keyword Density Checker is a free online SEO tool that analyzes keyword frequency, keyword density percentage, and phrase repetition in your content. Paste your text or upload a TXT, DOCX, or PDF file, then instantly see word and phrase statistics, 1 to 4-word phrase analysis, first/last occurrence positions, and a color-coded density overview (Excellent, Good, Under-Optimized, Over-Optimized).

Search for custom keywords to check their exact count, density, and position, or highlight every occurrence directly in your content. The tool also flags keyword stuffing, missing keywords, and distribution imbalance, and generates automatic SEO suggestions to help you optimize your writing. Export your findings as a CSV, TXT, or PDF report, or print it directly. All analysis happens locally in your browser — your content is never uploaded anywhere.

How to Use Keyword Density Checker

  1. 1

    Add your content

Paste your article into the box, or upload a TXT, DOCX or PDF file.

  2. 2

    Read the density overview

Every word and phrase is ranked by frequency with a colour-coded rating — Excellent, Good, Under-Optimized or Over-Optimized.

  3. 3

    Check a specific keyword

Search for the exact term you are targeting to see its count, density, first and last position, and highlight every occurrence in your text.

  4. 4

    Act on the warnings

Review the stuffing, missing-keyword and distribution flags, then export the report as CSV, TXT or PDF if you need to share it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Roughly 1-2% for your main keyword is the range most SEOs settle on. Below about 0.5% the term may be too faint for the page to read as being about that topic; above 3% it starts to look deliberate rather than natural. There is no official Google figure — density is a writing sanity check, not a ranking dial.
Keyword occurrences divided by total word count, multiplied by 100. A term appearing 12 times in a 1,000-word article has a density of 1.2%. For multi-word phrases the phrase counts as one occurrence, not as its individual words.
Repeating a term so often that the writing stops sounding natural — usually well above 3-4% density, or the same phrase forced into consecutive sentences. Google treats it as a spam signal. The tool flags it, but the honest test is reading the paragraph aloud.
Because most real search traffic comes from longer phrases rather than single words. Seeing that "keyword density checker" appears eight times tells you far more about what a page targets than seeing that "keyword" appears forty times.
Yes. Upload a TXT, DOCX or PDF and the text is extracted and analysed in your browser. The file is never uploaded to a server, so unpublished drafts and client documents stay private.
